for a friend, far, far away…

November 12, 2015

There are no words when a friend suddenly leaves us behind,

too soon,

with no reason,

‘cept in their own despair – too soon…

and the pain and doubts for those of us still here,

picking up the pieces, looking for signs in the whispers of ghosts…

I have no advice and hide only behind the thin gauze of cliché – that time will heal this pain… take it one day at a time…

Suicide sucks – that much we know to be true.

Too often it takes away our friends, and lovers – and we are left

with crumpled memories of passing moments – fading into the sunset of time –

as we walk and tremble and keep our stiff upper lip;

…maybe the answer will come tomorrow, or the day after, or the day after that…

-This is for a friend, who lost a dear friend…and I can’t be there, to take her into my arms and say, hang in there, tomorrow everything will be as right as rain…

“There is a town in north Ontario

With dream, comfort, memory, despair,

and in my mind I still need a place to go,

All my changes were there,

Blue, blue windows behind the stars,

Yellow moon on the rise,

Big birds flying across the sky,

throwing shadows on our eyes…

leave us helpless,

helpless, helpless.

Baby can you hear me now?

The chains are locked and tied across the door,

Baby, sing with me somehow.

Helpless, helpless, helpless.

Blue, blue windows behind the stars,

Yellow moon on the rise,

Big birds flying across the sky,

throwing shadows on our eyes…

leave us helpless,

helpless, helpless.

helpless,

helpless,

helpless…
