Living alone – the silent revolution

November 7, 2013

One of the largest social changes in the last 25 years has been the move to people living on their own. The majority of us – nearly 60% of us – now live alone.

I came across this interesting documentary looking at the issue – which could have been a little deeper in its analysis, but still pretty good.

As someone who has spent most of my adulthood – until 5-6 years ago – living alone, I definitely know the advantages and disadvantages of living alone (and now I can same the same of sharing a home).

Living alone / living together – its what you make of it.

So true – it’s what you make of it. And even though so many of us live alone or are single – a majority of Americans! – many feel like second-class citizens because the media and others still hold up coupled as the ideal and right way to live. To combat that, I’ve launched a blogazine, Flying High Solo, dedicated to showing how to live a good life as a solo – and I feature people who are doing interesting things and living full and valuable lives, plus tips on things to know and do. This is a space for us (and our friends). I hope you’ll check it out! Let’s build our community of solos.
